Run AI workloads on any cloud, store on Hugging Face: zero-egress storage with SkyPilot
What happened
Hugging Face and SkyPilot have integrated to offer zero-egress storage. Developers can mount Hugging Face Buckets or Hub repositories directly into SkyPilot jobs across 20+ clouds, Kubernetes, or on-prem clusters using a single hf:// URL. Because Hugging Face charges no egress fees, this eliminates the cross-cloud transfer tax when reading large datasets or model checkpoints onto available GPUs on different clouds.
Why it matters
It removes the financial and logistical friction of multi-cloud ML engineering by eliminating data egress costs.
The take
Data gravity and egress fees are massive pain points for teams training or fine-tuning models across fragmented cloud GPU availability. This integration effectively decouples compute from storage, allowing you to hunt for cheap/available GPUs on any cloud without worrying about the cost of moving TBs of training data.
Do this
If you are training or fine-tuning models across multiple cloud providers, evaluate SkyPilot with Hugging Face storage to avoid egress fees and simplify data mounting.
