[AINews] Sonnet 5 today, and Fable 5 tomorrow
agenticcontexttool-use
What happened
Anthropic released Claude Sonnet 5, marketed as their 'most agentic Sonnet yet' with a 1M-token context window. It features native planning, browser/terminal tool use, and is integrated into Claude Code. Pricing is set at $3/$15 per million tokens (with a $2/$10 promo). Additionally, export controls were lifted on Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5.
Why it matters
The combination of massive context and native terminal/browser tool use lowers the barrier to building complex, long-running agents.
The take
A 1M context window combined with native planning and terminal/browser tool use on a mid-tier model is a massive step forward for building autonomous coding and research agents. The promotional pricing makes long-context agent runs much more viable.
Do this
Test Claude Sonnet 5 for long-context agent workflows, especially those requiring terminal execution or multi-step planning.
