What happened
AdvancedMathBench is a benchmark suite designed to evaluate graduate-level mathematical reasoning. It features ProverBench (296 undergraduate and doctoral-level proof problems) and an automatic verification pipeline trained on expert annotations to assess proof correctness and fine-grained errors. It also includes VerifierBench (888 trajectories) to evaluate model verification capabilities.
Why it matters
It provides a rigorous evaluation framework for both generating and verifying complex, graduate-level mathematical proofs, moving beyond simple final-answer matching.
The take
As reasoning models advance, standard math benchmarks (like GSM8K or MATH) are saturating. Benchmarks focusing on proof generation and, crucially, verification (judging if a proof is correct) are essential for training and evaluating the next generation of RL-driven reasoning models.
